Ausar Thompson Player Prop Pick: OVER 3.5 Rebounds (-138) vs Brooklyn Nets
Ausar Thompson has covered this line in 3 of his first 4 games of the season while averaging 5 assists on 7.8 potential assists per game as the Detroit Pistons secondary facilitator.
Thompson’s potential assists have been up-&-down, but he’s seen 12 and 11 potential dimes in the two games where he’s played full minutes, and his minutes are starting approach 30+ after dealing with an ankle injury.
This is an ideal matchup as the Brooklyn Nets have allowed the MOST assists in the league including the 6th most to opposing small forwards with an average of 4.7 per game.
Brooklyn also allows the 2nd most assists at the rim & 7th most on at-the-break threes, and those areas account for 30% and 35% of Thompson’s assists. The Pistons are favored by -8.5 points so there is blowout potential, but Thompson’s minutes seem to secure as he works his way back from injury.
Pascal Siakam Player Prop Pick: OVER 7.5 Rebounds (-105) vs Miami Heat
Pascal Siakam has covered this line in 3/5 games on the season while landing on 7 in one of the games where he fell short and averaging 8.4 rebounds on 13.4 rebound chances per game.
Ivica Zubac remains out and that’s the key to this play as Siakam has averaged 18 rebound chances without him on the court compared to only 12 rebound chances with Zubac active.
In the two full games that Zubac has missed, Siakam recorded 11 and 13 rebounds. The Miami Heat have allowed the 4th most rebounds overall and the 8th most to opposing forwards.
We have seen several opposing forwards eclipse this line including Jalen Johnson (9), PJ Washington (9), Naz Reid (9) and Jaden McDaniels (8). Siakam could deal with foul trouble if he defends Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Rick Carlise knows how important Siakam is to the Pacers so he may utilize another player or make a switch if fouls do occur.
The Heat are favored by -8.5 so there is a chance of a blowout, but we have a huge total of 237 so there should be plenty of field goal attempts leading to rebound chances.
